If you have dental insurance, you know it’s a valuable benefit that allows you to obtain high-quality dental care that you might not be able to afford otherwise. Because it’s so beneficial, you should have an idea of what your insurance plan covers. But it can be a challenge to sort out deductibles, co-pays, and annual maximums and what it all means to you.

As part of our goal at Temple Dental Trails to provide top-notch customer service to our patients, we want you to be informed about all aspects of your treatment, including your dental insurance coverage.

Before you search online for “Blue Cross dentist Temple” or “Aetna dentist Temple,” you should know that we have skilled, knowledgeable team members whose main job is to help you understand your dental insurance.

What “100-80-50” Dental Insurance Is

Every insurance company is different, but many major insurers use a standard formula to determine your benefits. This is referred to as “100-80-50” coverage, and it’s not as complicated as it might sound:

  • 100 percent coverage for preventive dentistry, including exams, teeth cleanings, and routine x-rays.
  • 80 percent coverage for tooth fillings, root canals, and other routine procedures
  • 50 percent coverage for dental crowns and bridges and other major procedures

Not every plan works this way, however, which is why your Humana dentist in Temple has an insurance coordinator available to help you understand the specifics of your plan.

Also, you don’t see cosmetic dentistry included here because these procedures are rarely covered by dental insurance. However, treatments like dental crowns, bridges, and fillings all improve your oral health and also enhance your smile.

We Work with Your Dental Insurance

When our GEHA dentist in Temple recommends a certain procedure, we’ll make sure you understand approximately what portion of the treatment your insurance will cover. We’ll obtain pre-treatment estimates, file your claims, and follow up on any delays.

If you have questions about your particular insurance or need to schedule your next dental exam and cleaning, please call Temple Dental Trails.
