Dr. Richard Leung, DDS
Dr. Rich is a native of California, and it has always been his desire to provide quality dental care in a comfortable and relaxing environment. He graduated from the University of California in Riverside in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in business. After practicing financial consulting for five years, Dr. Rich went on to achieve his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2009 from the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Rich’s clinical skills stood out early on as faculty recognized his passion for dentistry and commitment to ensuring patient comfort and well-being.
Since earning his DDS, Dr. Rich has carried the same dedication to excellence into his career. He has pursued advanced level training in numerous areas. Some of these are cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, orthodontics, Invisalign, and sedation dentistry. Dr. Rich is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Orthodontic Society and International Association for Orthodontics.
As the owner of Temple Dental Trails and Lakewood Dental Trails, Dr. Rich brings all his knowledge and skills to our neighborhood, always working hard to maintain a high standard of care and office organization. When it comes to dentistry, patient comfort and experience are as important to Dr. Rich as the quality of care he delivers.
Dr. Rich is known for his gentle touch, compassionate nature, and skill. His passion is helping his patients overcome their dental fears. He also loves helping others feel better about their smiles, and he enjoys knowing all of his patients personally.
In his personal life, Dr. Rich has several hobbies, including basketball, weight training, taekwondo, and video games. He is an avid athlete as well as a caring father. Focusing on the family is an important part of our practice philosophy and culture. Dr. Rich looks forward to getting to know you and your family!
Brenna Sura, DDS
Dr. Brenna Sura received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from St. Edwards University in Austin, TX. She then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery with distinction from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
As an associate at Temple Dental Trails, Dr. Sura brings a passion for new technology and advances in cosmetic dentistry. She knows that improving the esthetics of a smile not only has a direct effect on self-confidence, but showing off new teeth requires a smile, and smiling is good for the soul!
Dr. Sura also loves having the opportunity to form unique lifelong relationships and provide care for a large variety of patients. Most patients she sees struggle with some degree of dental anxiety, so it is always fulfilling to grow trust and help patients work through their fears for the betterment of their dental and overall health.
Dr. Sura’s dedication to excellence has earned her several awards including:
- T. Schoeni Wolfe, DDS Memorial Award – granted by UTHSCSA School of Dentistry to the top dental student who displays exceptional patient-centered care and significant motivation and perseverance during dental school.
- The International Congress of Oral Implantology Pre-Doctoral Student Achievement Award – awarded to a graduating dental student for recognition of interest and commitment to oral implantology and implant dentistry.
Dr. Sura is a native of Austin and enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Brett, and their dog, Riley. She also likes to play soccer, hike, and travel to new places.
Dr. Wei-Yen Chang
Dr. Wei-Yen Chang graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor of science degree, then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from New York University.
Dr. Chang sees dentistry as a gratifying career that allows him to create confident new smiles for his patients. He helps them make informed decisions by presenting thorough and detailed treatment options. Dr. Chang’s compassionate nature and desire to understand his patients’ individual needs allows him to serve our community with personalized dental care that has a positive effect on their lives.
Before joining Temple Dental Trails, Dr. Chang practiced in Roswell, GA for nine years and was a Certified Course Director of AIC Implant training course in Atlanta. He finds it a pleasure to work at our office with a great team of professionals who genuinely care about patients’ dental needs and are great at their jobs.
Dr. Chang grew up in Atlanta, GA, and he and his wife Jennifer have been married for 16 years. They have two children, Kaylee, age 13, and Brandon, age 7.
Dr. Chang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.
Dr. Erin Kern
Dr. Kern is a native of Holland, Texas and is excited to provide exceptional dental care to the Central Texas community where she was born and raised. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery with Distinction in Dental Education from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Kern’s passion for dentistry began at a very young age after having numerous positive experiences as a patient. As a result, she strives to positively affect her patient’s lives by improving their dental health and instilling confidence in their smiles. Her commitment to lifelong learning has translated into a strong dedication to provide the highest quality dental care using the newest technologies and techniques. Dr. Kern enjoys meeting new people and building relationships with her patients, taking into consideration that each patient is unique and requires compassionate, individualized care.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kern likes spending time with her friends and family, being outdoors as much as possible, and listening to true crime podcasts. She and her husband Chase have one cat named Mya, and they love binge-watching Netflix shows.
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Noelle attended Henderson Community College, where she received her associate degree in dental hygiene in 2006. With a desire to continue her education in the field, Noelle went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from Western Kentucky University in 2011.
A native of Massillon, OH, Noelle was drawn to dental hygiene because of her desire to help patients improve their lives by maintaining their oral health.
Outside of work, Noelle is the proud parent of two indoor cats named Hunnie and Khloe, and one outdoor cat named Smoke. Noelle has a severe case of wanderlust, so traveling is her passion, and her goal is to travel to every continent in her lifetime. She also enjoys going to concerts and other events and spending time with friends and family. However, Noelle values her “me time” and doing absolutely nothing.
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Lindsey has been working in the dental profession since 2006 and joined Temple Dental Trails in 2020. A native of Covina, California, she attended Citrus Community College in Glendora, where she received an associate’s degree in dental assisting and child development. Lindsey then attended Concorde Career College in San Bernardino, where she graduated with an associate’s degree in dental hygiene in 2012.
Lindsey enjoys the dental profession and being a hygienist because she finds it very rewarding to educate patients on their oral health and help them feel good about their smiles. Like many of our team members, Lindsey wears several hats and also holds certifications in laser dentistry and nitrous oxide sedation.
Outside of work, Lindsey has been married to her husband Brandon since 2011. They have three children and three Labradors who keep them very busy. In her free time, she enjoys going to her son’s baseball games, baking with her oldest daughter, and watching her youngest daughter ride her bike and play in the mud. She and her husband also like to barbeque and walk to the lake.
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Jalania attended Temple College, where she received her associate’s degree in dental hygiene, then joined Temple Dental Trails in 2020. In addition to being a registered dental hygienist, Jalania received the STAR Colgate (Student Total Achievement Recognition) Award from the Temple College Dental Hygiene Program.
Jalania loves working in the field of dentistry because she finds it very rewarding to help patients gain confidence in their smiles. She likes to spend time connecting with each patient as an individual and educating them on the importance of their oral health and how it relates to their overall health.
A native of Temple, Texas, Jalania is married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two teenagers, Jackson and Elizabeth. In her free time, she enjoys watching her kids’ activities, including music and sports. On the weekends, the family enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time together.
Samantha attended Contra Costa College in San Pablo, CA, and started with Temple Dental Trails in November 2019. She has spent a total of 25 years working in the dental field because she loves helping her patients smile again with confidence. Samantha takes pride in helping her patients understand their treatment and the benefits, as well as helping them with finances so they can keep their smiles beautiful.
A California native, Samantha now lives in Copperas Cove, TX with her amazing husband, Kevin. She has a beautiful stepdaughter, Kylie, who is a senior at Copperas Cove High School. In 2016, they built their forever home, and Samantha’s dad moved to Texas from California to live with them.
Outside of work, Samantha is an avid bowler and participates in the women's state bowling tournament every June.
Registered Dental Assistant
Alexandra joined Temple Dental Trails in 2016. She loves making her patients feel comfortable during their time with us as well as seeing the dramatic changes in their smiles and confidence. She has been in the dental field since 2013, and we are happy to have her on our team.
Alex grew up in the Temple area and graduated from Rogers High School. She received her registered dental assistant license from Texas State Technical College in Waco, where she made the Dean’s list. Alex stays current with continuing education courses and enjoys learning as much as she can.
When she’s not busy helping our patients, Alex enjoys being a mother, working out and spending time with her family and friends.
Registered Dental Assistant
Alyssa was born in Wooster, Ohio and moved to Belton as a teenager. We are pleased to have her on our team as a Registered Dental Assistant. She has a heart for dentistry and brings an amazing skill set to our team. She loves being able to help people feel better about their smiles and themselves.
Alyssa received her professional training from the Training Center for Healthcare Careers in Harker Heights and has been in the dental field since 2015. She loves to interact with her patients and see their smiles transform with their overall health. Alyssa also holds a nitrous oxide certification.
She loves calling Temple Dental Trails her second home and says her team is full of people with huge hearts, huge smiles, and who genuinely care about their patients and staff.
Alyssa is married to her best friend and together that have a daughter. In her spare time, Alyssa loves to spend time with her family and friends and enjoys going on adventures, camping, crafting, cooking, working, and finding things to do within the community.
Registered Dental Assistant
Haley is a native of Temple, TX and is a graduate of Temple Dental Assistant School. She has been working in the field of dentistry since 2017.
Haley believes that a smile says a lot about an individual, and it is usually the first thing people notice. She wants her patients to achieve their personal goals in life and believes that having a healthy, beautiful smile can help.
As a mom to two beautiful boys, Jase and Clayton, Haley doesn’t have much free time! But when she does, she and her fiancé love fishing and camping with their boys and with friends who also have boys. Haley and her fiancé also belong to a pool league team that meets for practice and tournaments on their free nights.
Registered Dental Assistant
Annie received her training at Beaumont Dental Assisting School and joined Temple Dental Trails in 2020. She is also certified in nitrous oxide sedation.
Having worked in the field of dentistry since 2017, Annie says she chose the profession because she loves being part of transforming people’s smiles. She is also pleased to be able to work with our patients to help minimize any fears they have about visiting the dentist.
Annie grew up in Warren, Texas, and in her free time, she loves traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and dogs.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Kayla attended Pueblo Community College in Pueblo, Colorado, where she received her associate's degree in dental hygiene. She continued on to earn her bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from the same college in 2018. During college, Kayla participated in many public health events, which earned her the Colgate STAR award for her dedication and volunteerism related to the profession of dental hygiene.
Kayla has been a member of Temple Dental Trails since 2020 and enjoys work with an amazing team that truly cares about the profession. She loves dentistry because she finds it rewarding to help patients achieve the smile they want and educate them on how their oral health impacts their overall health. As a child, she loved going to the dentist and chose to become a dental hygienist to help create positive experiences for her patients.
Born in Temple, Texas, Kayla grew up in Fort Hood and has lived in the area for most of her life. In her spare time, Kayla and her husband Tim are avid travelers and share a love of the outdoors. Kayla also enjoys hiking with her dogs, fishing, camping, and going to the gym.
A native of Lorena, Texas, Lori has been working in dentistry since 2015 and joined Temple Dental Trails in 2020. She loves working with people and enjoys the interaction with our patients. For Lori, there’s nothing more rewarding than the feeling she has when someone comes to understand the benefit of excellent oral health.
Outside of work, you’ll find Lori spending time with family, friends, and her two Yorkies, Duke and Daisy. She also enjoys volunteering, cooking, shopping, and traveling.
We welcomed Jamal to Temple Dental Trails in February, 2020. He is currently enrolled at Temple College with the goal of obtaining a degree in computer science. Jamal enjoys dentistry because he likes a hands-on approach and the opportunity the field offers him to grow and expand different skillsets
Jamal was born in San Diego and raised in Temple. A self-professed "active nerd," Jamal earned his first Dan black belt in Taekwondo, with the hopes of getting his second degree soon. When he's not being active, Jamal is at home relaxing, either playing video games or watching movies.
